I’m a counselor and mentor. You can think of Encounters as adventures in personal development. Your sense of self, past, present and future has defined the world as you know it. My job is to help you redefine that world, to travel beyond its boundaries.
Helping people unravel the mystery of their self-doubt and the uncertainty that may consume and fragment their lives will be the primary focus. In other words, getting unstuck! With Encounters, the focus is mentoring.
The Mentor, the coach, and the counselor. A mentor is a combination of all three. The mentor is a teacher, a motivator and a guide or confidant. The poet Robert Bly once said, “A young man who does not have an older man who admires him, is being cheated!” He applied the same insight and logic to the needs of women as well. He is spot on!
Encounters is a series of guided events, conversations and experiences that are intended to help you achieve personal clarity and a sense of self that, for many, continues to be elusive throughout much of their lives. Everyone needs a mentor.
When we take a look at the belief systems that are the foundations of our relationships, it’s not unusual to find consistencies in the emotional and social landscapes that take shape. Those landscapes are the product of gathering together experiences and memories over a lifetime that in turn have anchored us to our belief systems.
Those beliefs inform us about our external world as well as the world within. They are the driving force behind how we project ourselves into the world and on how we perceive ourselves in it. The combination of the two generates the landscape we find ourselves traveling through in life.
Our brain is the single most powerful machine that we are aware of within the entire known universe.
Think about it! When you contemplate the idea of power there are many examples in the world of how power is demonstrated. Yet the power of the machine you carry with you throughout your life is given little attention. Your brain (once you learn how to operate it) can help propel you towards things that have thus far appeared beyond reach or unapproachable.
Investing in your future always pays off. It depends on how you invest. The pay off depends on what you focus on. If you decide to work with me, our Encounters will average 60 minutes. Encounters is organized to take advantage of what I’ve learned about the progress each individual client has made and why. We are not doing addictions counseling here, but the powerful results of the process I created in the clinical setting can be very effective outside of that setting as well.
